Fans of the musical and lovers of the iconic film will be flocking to see Footloose The Musical when it arrives at Alhambra Theatre, Bradford.
Following two critically-acclaimed tours and huge popular demand, the musical is back bigger and better than ever!
City boy Ren isn’t happy when he’s forced to move to a rural backwater, but he’s even more dismayed to find out dancing an rock music are banned in Bomont! He takes matters into his own hands and, before long, the whole town is on its feet.
The musical takes classic 80s hits (Holding Out for a Hero, anyone?) but mixes them with cutting edge modern choreography. And all performed by the one and only Darren Day as Reverend Moore and Dancing on Ice / X Factorstar Jake Quickenden as Willard! Joshua Hawkins plays Ren, supported by a fab cast of professional actors and vocalists.
Following Jake Quickenden’s turns on TV, he’s also had the time of his life on stage in a variety of shows from Peter Pan to touring with the Dreamboys and most recently starring in the production of Hair the Musical.
Jake says “I can’t wait to get out on tour with Footloose, after such a strange and difficult time we will finally all be able to join our friends and family in the theatre for a truly feel good night out. This show is packed full of amazing 80s hits I can’t think of a better tonic!”
Darren Day, who has starred in practically every great musical going, says: ““I am so delighted to be able to stay with the tour of Footloose this year. I was a teenager in the 80s, which is such an impressionable age for movies and music. This is one of the most iconic films and soundtracks from my teenage years. I can remember hearing Footloose on the radio for the first time and thinking… what a tune! I’m really looking forward to seeing you there.”
I last saw Mr Day on stage as Billy Flynn in Chicago and he didn’t disappoint! He was charismatic, charming and has a powerful voice that demands attention. He’s a musical theatre legend and I’d recommend anyone grabs their opportunity to see him live with both hands!
Don’t miss your chance to see Jake Quickenden and Darren Day live on stage at Alhambra Theatre, Bradford, from 20th – 25th June 2022.
