The Play What I Wrote by Sean Foley, Hamish McColl and Eddie Braben is coming to York Theatre Royal from 27th June to 2nd July.
The comedy is sure to be a hit amongst a variety of theatregoers – not least because there’s a special mystery guest star appearing at every performance!
The play follows double act Thom and Dennis who both have different ideas on their artistic direction… Thom has written an epic play set in the French Revolution but Dennis is happy continuing with their double act, performing a tribute to Morecambe and Wise. But first Dennis needs to persuade a guest star to appear in the play what Thom wrote…
It’s been described as a ‘recklessly, tear-inducingly funny show’ by The Guardian, and receives staggeringly good reviews wherever it appears. This tour will star Dennis Herdman and Thom Tuck as the two comedians with Mitesh Soni as Arthur and a multitude of other roles.
But who’s going to be York Theatre Royal’s very special guest star? No one will know until the night (and yep, that includes me!)
Previous mystery guest stars have included Ralph Fiennes, Ewan McGregor, Joanna Lumley, Daniel Radcliffe, Tom Hiddleston, Kylie Minogue, Nigel Havers, Denise Welch, Sir Ian McKellen, Dawn French and Sting so it’s sure to be a great surprise on the night – I for one can’t wait.
It’s such a treat to see a comedy hit the stage, and judging by previous reviews of this particular tour we’re all going to be in for a major treat!
Don’t miss the show when it comes to York Theatre Royal this month and into July.
