Waitress comes to the Alhambra Theatre very soon!

What’s great about touring theatre is that when a show visits a local area, by the time it’s back it normally features a completely fresh new cast. I last saw Waitress relatively recently at Leeds Grand Theatre but the show is now visiting Bradford Alhambra from 25th – 30th July and it’s starring completely different leads – I can’t wait!

Chelsea Halfpenny will star as Jenna alongside David Hunter as Dr Pomatter and Wendy
Mae Brown as Becky. They’ll join the tour’s previous cast of Evelyn Hoskins as Dawn, George Crawford as Ogie, Michael Starke as Joe, Tamlyn Henderson as Earl and Christopher D. Hunt as ‘al.

Waitress follows Jenna, an expert pie maker in a small town, who dreams of a way out of her loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town’s new doctor may offer her a chance at a new life, but Jenna must find the courage and strength within herself to rebuild her life. The musical celebrates friendship and motherhood, and it’s really a must-see for any musical theatre fan.

The show is based on the 2007 movie written by Adrienne Shelly. Music and lyrics are written by GRAMMY award-winning, singer-songwriter sensation Sara Bareilles, with a book by Jessie Nelson, and direction by Tony-award winner Diane Paulus with choreography by Lorin Latarro.

Since opening on Broadway in 2016, Waitress has garnered multiple awards and nominations in both America and the UK, receiving acclaim from both audiences and critics alike. Now it’s time to tour Yorkshire yet again!

Don’t miss Waitress when it comes to Bradford’s Alhambra Theatre this July.
