Bill Kenwright’s production of Blood Brothers is BACK for 2022!

Who else loves Blood Brothers? It’s an absolutely classic musical and is almost guaranteed to make you laugh and cry. The 2022 touring production will star former X-Factor finalist Niki Evans as Mrs Johnstone alongside Sean Jones who reprises the role of Mickey Johnstone for his final ever tour.

The much-loved smash hit musical performed to sell-out houses on its recent 2021 UK tour and just a year later it’s back on the road again! It’s not only a wonderful story, written by award-winning playwright Willy Russell, it also features some of the best songs in musical theatre including A Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True. It’s no wonder, then, that Bill Kenwright’s production of the show surpassed 10,000 performances in London’s West End.

It has been affectionately christened the ‘Standing Ovation Musical’ and, if you’ve ever seen the show, you’ll know why. Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins separated at birth, who grow up with completely different upbringings, only to meet again with tragic consequences. It’s a tale that hasn’t got an expiration date, and still holds significant relevancy to modern day audiences. We see Mrs Johnstone deserted by her husband as a young mother, taking a job as a housekeeper in order to make ends meet. She can’t afford twins, and in a moment of weakness and desperation she enters a secret pact to give away one of her little boys.

Niki Evans returns to the iconic role of Mrs Johnstone, after first joining the show in London’s West End and received standing ovations for her powerful and poignant ballads, while Sean Jones returns as Mickey Johnstone, a role which he has previously made his own, to critical acclaim. Joel Benedict plays Eddie and Daniel Taylor plays Sammy while Carley Burns joins the cast as Linda.

Don’t miss Blood Brothers when it comes to Grand Opera House York from 5th – 9th April as part of a 16 week UK tour.
