A year after PIAF was originally due to open at Leeds Playhouse, the full cast of this hotly-anticipated musical biography has now been confirmed.
The Leeds Playhouse and Nottingham Playhouse co-production of Pam Gems’ sensational play wil tells the extraordinary life story of the world-renowned chanteuse Edith Piaf. It will run in Leeds Playhouse’s Courtyard Theatre from 23 July – 7 August.
Tony-nominated and Olivier Award-winning actress Jenna Russell, known for her EastEnders stint, will star in the title role, with Sally Ann Triplett confirmed alongside her in the role of Toine – Piaf’s close friend and trusted confidante.
It’s cute that both actresses are friends, though it will be the first time they’ve performed together in over 30 years!
Olivier Award-nominated actress Laura Pitt-Pulford will play Marlene Dietrich. Garry Robson, who as performed at Leeds Playhouse in Our Country’s Good, will be taking the role of Louis Leplee – the nightclub owner who discovered Piaf. Louis Gaunt will play Piaf’s husband Theo.
