Darren Day stars in the Chicago UK & Ireland tour!

West End and TV star Darren Day is set to perform in the UK and Ireland tour of Chicago this year.

He’ll play Billy Flynn, joining Corrie‘s Faye Brookes as Roxie Hart, Sinitta as Mama Morton, Divina De Campo as Mary Sunshine, Djalenga Scott as Velma Kelly and Joel Montague as Amos Hart.

Darren Day has played starring roles in many stage shows including Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, The Rocky Horror Show, Grease and many more. He’s also starred in TV shows like Hollyoaks though many will remember him for his turn on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! and a finalist on Celebrity Big Brother.

I was really not a big Faye Brookes fan when she starred on Corrie and Dancing On Ice. However, she’s got an impressive stage repertoire such as starring as Princess Fiona in Shrek and Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, both on national tour. They’re tough roles to play so she can clearly hold her own on stage.

Sinitta is, of course, Sinitta, known for her hit music career and expert advice-giving on The X Factor. She’ll be co-starring alongside Divina De Campo, seasoned British drag queen and runner up on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

Chicago is set in 1920s, and tells the story of Roxie Hart. The housewife and nightclub dancer murders her lover but, desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today’s tabloids.

The show was created by John Kander and Fred Ebb, choregraphed by Bob Fosse. If you love songs like Razzle Dazzle and All That Jazz, then you’ll adore the whole show.

Don’t miss the show when it comes to Bradford Alhambra from 11th – 16th October.
