School of Rock – The Musical is a smash hit with music written by Andrew Lloyd Webber with lyrics by Glenn Slater and a book by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes.
It’s based on the hilarious Jack Black-starring hit musical film, only this version features 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber plus songs from the film.
The story follows wannabe rock star Dewey Finn who thinks he’ll make a quick buck by posing as a substitute teacher. He soon discovers his class of straight-A students have the potential to be incredible musicians… and help him win the Battle of the Bands contest. Can he overcome pushy parents and a strict head teacher to rock to the top?
The musical is particularly special as it’s performed live by the production’s young actors and musicians with amazing energy. I’ve seen the show in the West End and can’t wait to see it go on tour. There’s something mesmerising about a cast performing such awesome, rocking music live on stage with the audience almost part of the show!
With an Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music and countless rave reviews, it really is a show not to be missed.
Catch the show when it comes to Alhambra Theatre, Bradford, from 25 – 30 October 2021.
