Who wants to be in School of Rock?

It’s amazing news that Andrew Lloyd Webber’s smash hit, award-winning West End show, School of Rock The Musical, is touring the UK in 2021.

Based on the fantastic movie, the musical adaptation follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a bit of extra cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. Not quite cut out for the teaching life, he ends up turning a class of straight-A students into a rock band. The young musical cast sensationally perform live every night with roof-raising energy!

Though the film is amazing, the musical is arguably even better as it features 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber in addition to all the original songs from the movie.

Now the musical is searching for its cast of talented young musicians. Obviously due to the coronavirus lockdown it’s impossible to hold physical auditions, so the musical is going digital and asking people to submit online videos.

With mini rockers across the country currently being taught at the school of ‘mum and dad,’ the Producers are putting a call out for the following roles:

  • Pop/Rock/Gospel boy and girl singers
  • Guitar players who must be able to ‘shred’
  • Bass Guitar players
  • Killer Drummers
  • Genius Keyboard players

All entrants must be Young adults aged 8-12 and under 4ft 10 in height. Parents of budding rock stars should visit uktour.schoolofrockthemusical.com for further information. Be quick, because all entries must be submitted by Friday 19 June 2020.

Full casting for the UK Touring production is to be announced, but I can’t wait to see the cast of talented young people stealing the show.

School of Rock is coming to Leeds Grand Theatre from Monday 15th – Saturday 20th May 2021.
