Alhambra Theatre in Bradford has a smashing 2020 programme. And they’ve added three new shows to the list to look forward to!
Inspired by the hit film, Bring It On the musical is coming to the UK in July. It’s produced by Selladoor (who have had mixed results, from the awesome Avenue Q to the awful American Idiot). But with writers Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jeff Whitty and Tom Kill on board it’s sure to be a fantastic musical experience.
Another movie musical, My Best Friend’s Wedding, is coming to the Alhambra in October. It’s starring X Factor sensation Alexandra Burke. Get ready for the show to be a little bit jukebox, with songs incuding pop anthems written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, including I’ll Never Fall in Love Again, I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself, Walk on By, I Say A Little Prayer, What’s New Pussycat and many, many more.
Finally, Sunny Afternoon returns to Yorkshire in November. It’s a strange musical written by Ray Davies and Joe Penhall, all about The Kinks. It’s a pretty self-congratulatory piece but the songs are understandably incredible. Songs played live on stage include You Really Got Me, Waterloo Sunset, Dedicated Follower of Fashion, All Day and All of the Night, Lola, Sunny Afternoon and many more.
