York’s very first Great Panto Run will take place on 18th January. The five-mile trail run is in aid of the Berwick Kaler Foundation, which is a great charity continuing the legacy of panto legend Berwick Kaler.
The run will take place at Rawcliffe Country Park, with two laps of an out-and-back route. Dames just need to make sure they lift up their dresses because they’ll be running through woodland, fields and path!
It’s set to be a really fun day, that’s suitable for all kinds of runners. And there’ll be a prize for the best dressed runner! It’s much more entertaining if everyone’s in panto fancy dress. Maybe Cinderella will find her Prince Charming, or defeat the Ugly Sisters to win the race!
You’ll definitely be able to sport the York Theatre Royal team, who last ran the Yorkshire Marathon Relay. It’s great to see a group really get behind such a great cause and this event sounds really good fun. If you fancy sponsoring the team, they’d be very grateful.
If you’re bringing kids with you then you should consider the Country Park run instead, which is just over a mile long.
Whether you can join in or not, you can definitely donate. The Berwick Kaler Foundation aims to bring families, friends and communities together to enjoy all things theatre. I, for one, think that’s a very good cause indeed.
