Do you hear the people sing?

Les Miserables has been enjoying a smash hit UK tour this year, and now Cameron Mackintosh’s production is coming to Leeds Grand Theatre in 2020!

The new production has been taking the world by storm since 2009, and has been selling out in record breaking time across the country. You might have seen the film starring Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway, but seeing the classic piece on stage is an experience you simply can’t miss.

I’ve seen this new stage production in Bradford, and the beautiful scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo really add an etherial vibe to the show. If you want to become one of the 120 million people who have seen this show live then I’d recommend getting tickets soon because they will go! And quickly.

The acclaimed production of the Boublil and Schönberg musical will star Dean Chisnall as Jean Valjean, Nic Greenshields as Javert, Katie Hall as Fantine, Ian Hughes as Thénardier, Harry Apps as Marius, Charlie Burn as Cosette, Barnaby Hughes as Enjolras and Helen Walsh as Madame Thénardier.

The two leading men, Chisnall and Greenshields, are just extraordinary. They add such intensity to their roles whilst maintaining a complete connection with the audience throughout. Both are stunning vocalists and incredible talents.

The show will run in Leeds from Thursday 23rd July to Saturday 15th August 2020. Don’t miss it!

  1. Over here in the US, we have been enjoying the tour of Les Mis since September 2017. Six of the principal actors/actresses have been in the musical since the beginnin. What I love about the new production are the backdrops in the back- it does add more color plus I love how there is a bit more Victor Hugo since they were inspired by his paintings. It adds a new complexity to Les Mis. I saw the production in November 2017 in Greenville- my three standouts from then are still in.

Its 2019 and the US Tour is still going strong- I hope to see it when it comes back to my hometown. It is coming to Charlotte at the end of the month.
