So, if you’re a fan of Billy Fury then you’ll probably love Halfway To Paradise – The Billy Fury Story. It’s a two hour show telling the story of Billy Fury, and it even features original members of his band Fury’s Tornados. This all means nothing to me, but for fans out there this is a tribute night with genuine authenticity and an air of excitement to it.
The show also stars Colin Gold who’ll be taking on lead vocals. It’s a musical showcase that packs in 29 of Billy’s hits including Colette, I Will, Jealousy, In Thoughts of You, Halfway to Paradise, Wondrous Place, Gonna Type a Letter to You, It’s Only Make Believe, In Summer, Do You Really Love Me Too?
I suppose the big difference with this one is it’s a show performed by people who knew and played with the star. There’s also an audio-visual segment introduced by his last girlfriend, Lisa Voice, with a moment when Billy’s shown singing on-screen alongside the band. Personally, I find that a bit odd and uncomfy when I’ve seen it done before, but it might work in this show.
With stars such as Cliff Richard and Billy’s family all endorsing the show it’s bound to be a good one.
Catch the show at the Grand Opera House, York, on Wednesday 25th September.
