I love The Original Theatre Company and all the shows I’ve seen in the past have been fantastic. Now they’re teaming up with York Theatre Royal to present a stage adaptation of Sarah Waters’ The Night Watch.
The show is debuting at York Theatre Royal from 4th – 7th September before touring the UK.
The story follows a host of characters as they recover from the 1940s war. The tragic tale has sold over half a million copies, so the foundations of a beautiful story are there. Olivier-nominated playwright Hattie Naylor has creates a theatrically inventive adaptation to bring the pages to the stage.
The show is directed by Alastair Whatley and designed by David Woodhead. The cast includes Mara Allen, who graduated from RADA this year and is thus making her debut. Also in the cast are Louise Coulthard (recently nominated for Best Actress at the 2018 Off West End Awards for her performance in Cockamamy, which she also wrote), Malcom James (Birdsong and The Mousetrap), Lewis Mackinnon (Dragonheart: Battle For The Heartfire), Phoebe Pryce (Cash Cow), Florence Roberts (A Hero Of Our Time), Sam Jenkins-Shaw (The 39 Steps) and Izabella Urbanowicz (After The Dance).
Don’t miss the show when it comes to York Theatre Royal from 4th – 7th September.
