Everybody’s Talking About Jamie touring cast announced!

The smash-hit musical, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, is going from strength to strength. Having taken the West End by storm it’s now touring the UK!

The show will star Layton Williams as Jamie New, who has previously starred in TV series Bad Education and as Seaweed in Hairspray. He’s taking the role on tour fresh from the West End which will be so exciting! Joining him as Hugo / Loco Chanelle is ex-EastEnder Shane Richie who also starred in the West End production.

The story of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is based on a true story of a young boy who lives on a council estate in Sheffield but dreams of being a Drag Queen star! Supported by his brilliant loving mum and surrounded by his friends, Jamie overcomes prejudice, beats the bullies and follows his dreams.

The musical is directed by Jonathan Butterell with an original score by lead singer-songwriter of The Feeling Dan Gillespie Sells and book and lyrics by writer Tom MacRae. The script is of course fantastic but the poppy unusual songs that run throughout really make this show stand out. I think the show has one of my favourite musical scores thanks to its feel good, fun nature and catchy tunes.

Layton Williams said: “I’ve loved my time in the West End but am beyond excited to be playing Jamie on tour! This will be my sixth tour and I can’t wait to come back to some of my favourite venues with this beautiful show…”

Shane Richie added: “I had such a fantastic time playing Hugo/Loco Chanelle in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie in the West End, so when I was offered the chance to be involved in the touring production I jumped at the opportunity to get back into those heels! I believe this show has such an important message for younger and older generations I’m excited to be taking it to a larger audience around the UK.”

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie comes to Leeds Grand Theatre from Monday 13th to Saturday 18th July 2020.
