St George’s Hall gets ready to celebrate!

St George’s Hall Celebration Gala Weekend is going to be an exciting one! Whether you want to splash out and enjoy A Night of Variety or prefer to celebrate by supporting local bands on during The People’s Music Hall event, there are many ways for people to get involved.

The gala weekend celebrates the re-opening of St George’s Hall in Bradford following its major refurbishment.

On 1st June, A Night Of Variety will take to the stage. The show will star soul singer Beverley Knight, top comedian Sarah Millican, Britain’s Got Talent winners Collabro and the ground-breaking electric string quartet Escala.

The day after, on Sunday 2nd June, The People’s Music Hall gives everyone the chance to celebrate as rock-bottom ticket prices mean the show is accessible for all. The show features some of Bradford’s best local groups and performers, including musicians and dancers. Watch this space for more information about the line-up and who we can expect to see performing!

St George’s Hall in Bradford re-opened in February 2019 following an extensive refurbishment, which included major works to the roof, windows, electrics and the front-of-house areas. The seating in the main auditorium has also been upgraded, creating an even better theatre experience for its audience. The refurb was made possible by funding from Bradford Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, says: “We want this reopening celebration to be hugely memorable and I’m delighted that we have secured such a fantastic line-up of talented performers. The magnificent restoration of St George’s Hall is truly first rate and brings facilities right up to date. It is only fitting that we mark this significant milestone with two unique events.”

I have seen the refurbishment myself and it looks like a really smart, particularly the bar areas where you can check out old tickets and event posters from iconic bands who have performed at the venue!
