The full cast of Annie has been announced

It was announced a while ago that Anita Dobson is taking on the role of Miss Hannigan in Michael Harrison and David Ian’s production of Annie.

Now it’s been announced that Alex Bourne will play Oliver Warbucks, Richard Meek will play Rooster, Jenny Gayner as Lily and Carolyn Maitland as Grace Farrel. The little’uns playing Annie are Faye Katsande, Ava Smith and Freya Yates. They’ll share the role alongside a host of young performers who will play the other girls of the orphanage.

Though it’s undoubted that ex-EastEnders star Anita Dobson is an outstanding star name on the bill, it’s ace to see Alex Bourne on the billing too. Having played the role in the West End, in Toronto and on tour, it’s certain he’ll have the charisma and presence to pull off the role. With credits like Danny in Grease and Billy Flynn in Chicago, this suave chap has Warbucks written all over him.

Richard Meek as Rooster also has an impressive portfolio, having played a range of roles in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Leo Bloom in the international tour of The Producers. Jenny Gayner is also a show superstar, playing Miss Wilson in the original cast of The Girls at the Phoenix Theatre. Carolyn Maitland reprises her performance as Grace Farrell though she has also had big roles in other shows such as Miss Saigon and Ghost.

The cast are more than equipped to bring the house down with their versions of It’s A Hard Knock Life, Easy Street, I Don’t Need Anything But You and Tomorrow.

Don’t miss the show when it comes to Alhambra Theatre in Bradford from 22nd-27th April 2019. Perfect Easter Holiday entertainment!
