Slung Low Theatre is expanding its local offering with a whole host of new skills classes and sessions. The courses have been chosen by allumni of the first term, so real members of the community have had a hand in the offering.
The new programme of Pay What You Decide cultural classes kicks off on 17th February, so make sure you bag yourself a place on one of the classes if you decide to go along.
The very first Cultural Community College term saw over 350 people attend and learn new skills – with half the courses sold out after just 24 hours since the classes were revealed.
Slung Low’s Artistic Director Alan Lane said: “We were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm for the first college term. The enjoyment and confidence that people found in that first lot of subjects was more than we could have hoped for. With this second term we’ve listened to what people told us they wanted to learn, we’re developing the curriculum even wider. We’re committed to growing the college community as wide as possible and excited to welcome new friends and old friends.”
Supported by Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Arts Council England, courses include choirs, cookery classes (with Manjit’s Kitchen chefs!), writing classes and even courses on fire eating and body burning! So whether you want to learn more about Mental Health First Aid or making your own podcast, there’s bound to be something to get involved in.
