Next April, Annie is coming to Bradford Alhambra. And who’s playing the fearsome Miss Hannigan? None other than Anita Dobson!
You’ll probably know her best from her iconic role as Angie Watts in EastEnders, which secured her status as an award-winning soap star. But she’s also a West End legend, too, having starred in Madame Morrible in Wicked, Mama Morton in Chicago and Nancy in Frozen. She’s also the wife of Brian May (epic).
For those of you who don’t know the play, Miss Hannigan is runs the orphanage poor Annie finds herself in before being rescued by famous billionaire, Oliver Warbucks. Will Miss Hannigan try and spoil her search? You’ll have to wait until April to find out.
There are some classic musical tunes in this show, including the well-known warbler Tomorrow and It’s a Hard Knock Life. I’ve only even seen film versions of the show and a couple of am-drams, so it’ll be brilliant to see a professional take on the musical.
Further casting to be announced, so let’s all watch this space!
If you can’t wait until 22nd April 2019 to get your musical fix, check out the other great shows coming up at Bradford Theatres.
