If you’re looking at images of Madagascar – The Musical and wondering how it’s gone from a wacky boardroom idea to a full-blown UK tour, then we’re in the same boat.
There’s gonna be a lion, zebra, giraffe and hippo all bounding around on stage at York Theatre Royal from 26th – 2nd March. Wow is all I can say.
If you’ve seen the film, you’re probably, maybe, possibly likely to enjoy the stage show, though I imagine the two will be very different in style and structure. Still, for a family show it’s all going to be fun and games.
The plot’s exciting – a group of wild animals escape from New York’s Central Park Zoo and go on a journey to the world of King Julien’s Madagascar.
So who do we have to thank (or blame) for this madcap musical? It’s being brought to life by Selladoor Family, the producers of previous strange but wonderful shows such as James And The Giant Peach and Seussical: The Musical.
David Hutchinson, Executive Creative Producer of Selladoor says “One of our key principals at Selladoor is to aim to engage young people to come to the theatre and to help to encourage a whole new generation of theatregoers, and Madagascar – The Musical promises to do just that. We are delighted to be bringing these much-loved crazy characters to life on stage in an exciting caper for all of the family”.
