Natasha Marshall’s semi-autobiographical dark comedy Half Breed comes to York Theatre Royal. The play has already been shortlisted for the Tony Craze Soho Young Writers Award, the Alfred Fagon Award shortlisted writer and nominated for Best New Play in the 2017 UK Theatre Awards. Looks set to be a good one!
Half Breed first premiere’s at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017, followed by a run at London’s Soho Theatre. Now, Soho Theatre and Talawa Theatre Company present Half Breed to the people of Yorkshire.
The play follows Jazmin, a young girl who’s sick of feeling different. Can she escape the racist jokes in the local pub and get out of the village?
Playwright and performer Natasha Marshall trained on Soho Theatre Young Company’s Writers Lab and the Talawa First new-writing scheme. In what looks to be a one-woman show, her talents are going to be put to the test. I’m sure it will be incredibly well received.
Don’t miss Half Breed when it comes to York Theatre Royal Studio on 8th and 9th May.
