Jill Halfpenny comes to Leeds

The Girl on the Train is roaring into Leeds when it comes to West Yorkshire Playhouse. The super book, written by Paula Hawkins, has been adapted by Rachel Wagstaff and Duncan Abel. The show is being directed by Old Vic Associate Director Joe Murphy so it’s fair to say a lot of talent is involved in this production.

And now for the cast… who recognises Jill Halfpenny from shows such as Coronation Street and In The Club? She’s starring in the show as Rachel, the woman who watches a perfect couple out of the train window every day and becomes obsessed when the woman she watches disappears.

Adam Best stars as Rachel’s ex-husband Tom, Sarah Ovens will play Tom’s new wife Anna, Florence Hall will play Megan Hipwell and Theo Ogundipe will play Scott Hipwell. Colin Tierney and Jonas Khan complete the cast as D.I. Gaskill and Kamal Abdic. What an epic cast list!

West Yorkshire Playhouse Artistic Director James Brining said: “I’m delighted to welcome Joe Murphy and such a strong cast and creative team to the Playhouse, and I can’t wait to support them in bringing this story to life.”

Catch the show at West Yorkshire Playhouse from 12th May to 9th June.
