Why Leeds Actors in Training is an inspiring project

Leeds Grand Theatre is collaborating on a great project aimed to offer 18-25 year olds the opportunity to build their skills that will hopefully help them along their path towards a theatre career.

What is Leeds Actors in Training?

Leeds Actors in Training was founded in October 2017 to help young adults move on to the next stage of their training or professional practice. Everyone knows how hard it is to establish a successful theatre career, so this programme is perfectly placed to help local young people build their skills and confidence.

The weekly course will see young people work on several exciting projects with industry professionals, from directors to actors. The culmination of the project will see the young people take part in a final performance directed by Lizi Patch at the end of July.

LAIT member David Fisher said: “I can’t thank LAIT and Lizi enough for helping me to get into my dream drama school; the work we’ve done here is invaluable for building skills and confidence.”

Leeds Actors in Training is part of Leeds Grand Theatre & Opera House Learning Programme, supported by the Emerald Foundation, the charitable arm of the Emerald Group. This is SUPER exciting for me as I work for Emerald and know what a creative, amazing company it is.

Bravo, Emerald and Leeds Grand Theatre!
