Have you seen the Rock ‘n’ Roll Pantomime?

I’ve only seen one Rock ‘n’ Roll Pantomime at Leeds City Varieties, and it was… unusual. Sure, parts of it were entertaining enough but the Rock ‘n’ Roll part seemed a little lost in the sparkle without substance.

This year, classic Cinderella is getting the Rock ‘n’ Roll treatment… essentially combining a lovely pantomime plot with some classic rock tunes. The cast will likely to be covered in sequins and beaming smiles, and the audience will cheer, boo and hiss at every opportunity to be involved.

Billed as a totally unique panto in a totally different format to its competitors, I must say there’s not a huge deal to differentiate the CVMH panto to every other across the land. Aside from some kind of traditional boulder fight which, granted, most theatres seem to avoid.

Ian Sime, General Manager at City Varieties, said: “They [the Rock ‘n’ Roll pantomimes] have grown year on year and have now become a Christmas tradition for families in Leeds and beyond.”

The show runs at Leeds City Varieties from 1st December 2018 – 13th January 2019.
