Championing cross generational theatre

Enter a brave new digital world of corruption, murder and mistaken identity in the York Theatre Royal Youth Theatre production of Legacy, written by Paul Birch.

In the play, three powerful characters find their lives turned upside down when the body of a boy is discovered. One other thing… the boy doesn’t exist.

The show will be performed by actors aged 16-19 from the Youth Theatre and actors aged 65-plus from the community, a strong move from York Theatre Royal to showcase the power of intergenerational performance.

Cast member Shirley Williams, a performing arts teacher, said: “I have been interested in this cross generational project since the beginning as I enjoy working with young people. The generations have much to learn from each other and theatre is a great communicator of this.”

Couldn’t have said it better myself, Shirley!

From 12th-14th April, treat yourself to a ticket to this fantastic production. Get your tickets here!
