What’s coming up at West Yorkshire Playhouse?
Every Third Minute is a festival celebrating hope and raising awareness of dementia. West Yorkshire Playhouse is fast becoming a leading theatre for using art and creativity to raise awareness and bind the community and I admire and respect the theatre immensely for that.
Coming up soon is Three, running at 1.30pm on Friday 9th March. The show sees three brand new short plays showcasing unique stories of life and flights of the imagination by rarely heard voices. The plays have been co-written by people living with dementia and professional writers, so it’s expected that these plays will be powerful and poignant yet professionally and technically crafted.
The plays being showcased are:
- I See Land Ahead by Bob Fulcher & Dominic Gately
- Hamari Yaadain / Our Memories by Hamari Yaadain Memory Café & Ming Ho
- A Horse Called Freedom by Rosa Peterson & Barney Bardsley
It’s a great idea to take the shows on a two-week tour of Leeds care homes and community venues, too, yet another stunning venture that firmly establishes West Yorkshire Playhouse as much more than a theatre – it’s a vital cog in our community.
