Guys and Dolls comes to York!

York Light are hitting the stage at York Theatre Royal to treat the city to a performance of Guys and Dolls. Having last produced the show back in 1988, they’re back 30 years later to raise the roof.

It’s a classic favourite, and certainly a personal soft-spot. Sing along to A Bushel and a Peck; Guys and Dolls; Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat; Marry the Man Today, and of course, Luck Be a Lady – an evening of absolute musical hits. It’s one top showtune after another.

The story is cute too – gambler Sky Masterson takes a bet that he can’t take missionary Sarah Brown on a date. Despite her reluctance, she eventually agrees to the date if Sky brings people into her mission. Trust me, it’s a lot sweeter than a couple of sentences can portray.

If you’re a film buff, your homework is to watch the classic film version – Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando, anyone?

York Light’s production will be directed by professional Martyn Knight. It’s going to be so much fun!

Catch the show from 7th-17th March. Book your Guys and Dolls tickets from the York Theatre Royal website.
